Excellent article printed on the front page of todayâs Sunday paper regarding the film industry in the Palm Springs area. I was interviewed along with Sheri Davis and Dan Taylor of the Film Alliance, an organization I am heavily involved with. Itâs a long article but a great read. Here is one of my quotes, âIâm excited about the industry in general for the desert area. Organizing and fragmenting the industry, I think, it has nowhere to go but up. I think itâs going to really increase production out here,â Vincent said.
Palm Springs reels in more film, TV, photo shootsAll these scenes filmed and photographed in locations across the Coachella Valley are part of the quiet but slowly growing industry that over the years has helped spark interest in the area as a tourism destination and production location. An exhaustive Desert Sun review of film permit applications across the valley since 2010 shows that production companies, big and small, head to the Coachella Valley resorts, mid-century modern homes, streets and landmarks as backdrops for fashion shoots, commercials, television and feature films. “We are Hollywood’s backlot,” said Sheri Davis, executive director of the Greater Palm Springs Film Alliance, and former director of the Inland Empire Film Commission. It’s her job to work with location scouts to promote all types of filming in the desert and provide the resources to help that happen.
I saw this on Twitter the other day and itâs so awesome! I was reading through the article and was amazed to find out what has been filmed in Palm Springs! I saw that ANTM (which I tried out for twice but to no avail), was filmed there, which is really cool. Also, I read that my fav rapper, Nicki Minaj, and BeyoncĂ© filmed their video of âFeeling Myselfâ in Coachella and they can be seen dancing around the city limits road sign! I looked for your the quote that you mentioned, but didnât find it. However, I did find a video of you along side Shari Davis, but she was doing all the talking. I was waiting for you to say something but you didnât đ I did see this quote from you referring to the local resource list of âback-stage talentâ that you trying to build up for various production projects. Thatâs when they quoted you saying the goal is to: âFlush out all the talent we have here in the desert. Crew, cameramen, lights, electrical, vendors, craft service; to let the industry know the desert and the Coachella Valley is extremely film friendly.â Thatâs so cool! Great job and thanks for sharing this!!! đ
